JEC 2010 Innovation - tailored Prepregs from fenopreg
The new Brandenburg manufacturer of prepreg Fibre Reinforced Plastics FRP presents its product range at the JEC Composite show in Paris, the largest trade show of its kind in Europe.
(IINews) - Beelitz 22 March 2010: Our Stand T6 can be found close to the main entrance where as put by the smiling director of sales Jörn von Bornstadt "to find the stand one just has to follow the alluring light aroma of baking, insinuating the oven cure cycle baking waffles". Fenopreg is a division of the company fenotec and is a new innovative company specializing in the production of pepregs and individual or customised resin systems together with a wide range of woven and non-woven fabrics, which can in accordance with customer requirements be cut to size. Using a worldwide patented process and in contrast to other preform manufactures - fenopreg can cut to size at prices comparable to the original roll.
According to company founder and director Burkhard Staabs "The emphasis should be on meeting individual customer requirements/orders and not dictated by a machine" For this reason he is looking forward to discussions with construction engineers and designers and the exchange of ideas and visions on how optimised solutions may be achieved with individual prepregs. Mr. Staabs accenuates that "Within reason every conceivable combination of resin and fibre is possible and could be implemented. We worked hard to achieve this know-how during our conception and test phases"
The highly modern fenopreg production plant located at the Industry Park - Beelitz Süd was put into operation by the Brandenburg Minister of Commerce, Ralf Christoffers (Die Linke) at the inauguration ceremony in December 2009. Accomadation and integration of the needs of material processors has led to a unique plant concept with unusually high flexibility. Fenopreg can offer many variations of prepregs and is dependent only on the availability of fibre (e.g. carbon, glass etc.) and resin system (EP and phenol etc.) on the current market. This way the company can adapt to the demands of the construction and design engineers that wish to produce or develop new products made from prepregs.
FRP prepregs play such an essential role in the design of ultra light components or products such as used in yacht construction, recreational articles, engineering components, bio-mechanics that it is hard to imagine an alternative. At present prepregging is possibly the most efficient and reliable technology for processing fibre/matrix combinations for high performance composite applications.
As Daniel Brambeer the new Sales Manager at fenopreg puts it " Anybody who is considering replacing titan or high strength steel for a particular application is usually working close to the upper working limit in terms of what is feasible in component construction. In such cases the material has to be absolute predictable and reproducible - and that's something that only prepregs can provide".
Daniel joined the team at fenopreg on the 01 March 2010. As former sales manager from CTM GmBH, the middle European distributor of SP systems (UK), he is well informed over the whole range of applications of epoxy resin and fibre combinations.
